“Fly the flag with this one” was the phrase Walsh used for the Ensign in its 1985 sports footwear collection, for the Union Jack colourway. First introduced in 1981 for runners in the New York Marathon. Where the industry chased new materials, Norman Walsh kept to “less is more”: a classic lugged outsole, thick wedge midsole and lightweight upper, for comfort, stability and durability. One of the most recognisable silhouettes in Walsh’s history.
